SHIPPING & COLLECTION POLICY

Last updated: 8 October 2026

This Shipping & Collection Policy explains how orders placed with The Cape Brake Co. ("CBC", "we", "us" or "our") are delivered or made available for collection.

This policy should be read together with our Terms of Service and Return & Refund Policy.

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude or limit any rights available to consumers under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA"), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECTA"), or any other applicable South African law.

1. DELIVERY AREA

The Cape Brake Co. offers delivery to addresses within South Africa, subject to product delivery eligibility, courier availability and any service-area limitations that may apply.

Certain remote, rural or outlying areas may:

  • Attract additional delivery charges
  • Have longer delivery times
  • Require alternative delivery arrangements
  • Not be serviced by our standard courier service

Where standard courier delivery is not available for a delivery-eligible product, we will contact the customer to discuss available options.

Products marked “Collection only” are not available for delivery, as explained in Section 6.

2. SHIPPING COSTS

Shipping costs are calculated based on the order and delivery destination.

The applicable shipping charge will generally be calculated using information including:

  • Delivery address
  • Parcel dimensions
  • Parcel weight
  • Number of parcels
  • Courier service selected or available
  • Nature of the products
  • Delivery area

The shipping charge applicable to an eligible standard order will be displayed during checkout where automated courier rates are available.

Certain delivery-eligible products may require a separately calculated freight charge as explained below.

A free rate labelled “Collection only” or similar means collection from CBC in Strand. It does not mean free delivery.

3. PAYMENT BEFORE ORDERING OR DISPATCH

Orders will only be processed once the required payment has been received and confirmed by The Cape Brake Co.

Where a product needs to be ordered from one of our suppliers, CBC will place the supplier order after the customer's payment has been received and confirmed, unless otherwise agreed.

Payment does not guarantee immediate availability where products are supplied or ordered from third-party suppliers.

If an item becomes unavailable after payment, we will contact the customer as soon as reasonably possible to discuss the available options.

4. ORDER PROCESSING

Orders are processed during our normal business operating periods.

Processing time is separate from courier transit time.

Products held in stock may be prepared for dispatch or collection once payment and order details have been confirmed.

Products that need to be sourced from a supplier will first need to arrive with CBC, or be made available for dispatch through an agreed supply arrangement, before the final delivery or collection can take place.

Customers will be notified where a material supplier delay affects their order.

5. SPECIAL-ORDER PRODUCTS

Some products are not held in stock and must be ordered specifically for the customer.

Special-order products may be subject to:

  • Supplier stock availability
  • Supplier processing times
  • Manufacturing lead times
  • Import lead times
  • Freight or transport delays
  • Other circumstances outside CBC's reasonable control

As set out in our Terms of Service, special-order parts may require 100% payment of the part cost before CBC places the order.

Any estimated lead time provided for a special-order product is an estimate unless CBC expressly agrees otherwise.

We will communicate material delays where reasonably possible.

6. BULKY, HEAVY & OVERSIZED PRODUCTS

Certain automotive and 4x4 products are not available for standard courier delivery.

Collection-only Hamer products

Large Hamer products marked “Collection only” on their product pages must be collected from:

The Cape Brake Co.
209A Main Road
Strand, 7140
Western Cape
South Africa

CBC does not offer delivery for these items.

These include designated bumpers, bull bars, side steps, roof racks, underbody protection and other bulky accessories.

Hamer light bars, shackles, modular mats and winches are excluded from this collection-only rule. Delivery availability and charges for these products are shown at checkout.

Please check the collection or delivery information on the individual product page before ordering. If anything is unclear, contact CBC before completing your purchase.

How collection-only items appear at checkout

Collection-only items may appear under the checkout's shipping or delivery section with a free rate labelled “Collection only” or similar.

This means collection from CBC in Strand. It does not mean free delivery to your address.

Checkout may display separate fulfilment groups or refer to them as shipments. A group assigned a collection-only rate must still be collected from CBC.

Please check the fulfilment method shown for each part of your order before completing checkout.

Orders containing both delivery and collection items

An order may contain both courier-eligible products and collection-only products. In that case:

  • Courier-eligible products will be delivered using the selected courier service, with the applicable delivery charge.
  • Collection-only products must be collected from CBC in Strand.
  • A courier charge for one part of the order does not include delivery of the collection-only items.

CBC will confirm when collection-only items are ready. Please wait for that confirmation before travelling to collect them.

Other products requiring specialised freight

For products that are eligible for delivery but require specialised freight, ordinary automated courier rates may not apply.

These products may be marked “Freight Quote Required”, “Contact Us for Delivery” or similar.

CBC will calculate or obtain the appropriate freight charge based on factors including the product, dimensions, weight and delivery destination.

The customer will be informed of the applicable freight charge before the freight arrangement is finalised.

Where an order contains both standard courier items and specialised freight items, separate delivery arrangements or charges may be required.

This specialised freight option does not apply to products marked “Collection only”.

7. COURIER DELIVERY

CBC uses third-party courier providers to deliver orders.

Where available, customers may receive:

  • Shipment confirmation
  • Tracking information
  • Courier notifications
  • Estimated delivery information

Courier delivery times are estimates and may be affected by circumstances including:

  • Delivery destination
  • Remote or outlying areas
  • Courier network delays
  • Severe weather
  • Road or infrastructure disruptions
  • Peak trading periods
  • Public holidays
  • Supplier delays
  • Other circumstances outside CBC's reasonable control

CBC will provide reasonable assistance where a delivery problem arises.

8. DELIVERY TIMES

Any delivery timeframe displayed or communicated is an estimated timeframe unless expressly agreed otherwise.

Where a product is held in stock, delivery may commence once the order has been processed and dispatched.

Where a product must first be sourced from a supplier, the estimated delivery period will depend on both:

  • The time required for the product to become available; and
  • The courier transit time after dispatch.

We will make reasonable efforts to fulfil orders within the communicated timeframe and will notify customers of material delays where reasonably possible.

Collection-only products are subject to collection readiness rather than courier delivery times. CBC will notify the customer when these products are ready for collection.

9. DELIVERY ADDRESS & CUSTOMER INFORMATION

Customers are responsible for providing complete and accurate delivery information when placing an order.

This includes:

  • Recipient name
  • Street address
  • Suburb
  • City or town
  • Province
  • Postal code
  • Contact telephone number
  • Any relevant delivery instructions

Customers should carefully check delivery information before submitting an order.

If incorrect or incomplete information results in a failed delivery, rerouting or return to sender, additional courier charges may apply where permitted by law.

If you notice an error in your delivery details, please contact CBC as soon as possible.

Once an order has entered the courier network, it may not always be possible to change the delivery address.

Providing a delivery address does not make a collection-only product eligible for delivery.

10. FAILED DELIVERY & REDELIVERY

The customer or an authorised person should be available to receive the order at the delivery address.

Where a delivery fails because:

  • Nobody is available to receive the parcel
  • Access to the delivery location cannot reasonably be obtained
  • Incorrect delivery information was supplied
  • The recipient refuses delivery without a lawful basis
  • The courier cannot contact the recipient

the courier may attempt redelivery, hold the parcel at a depot or return the parcel to CBC.

Additional courier or redelivery charges resulting from circumstances attributable to the customer may be payable by the customer where permitted by law.

11. INSPECTING YOUR DELIVERY

Customers should inspect their order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

Please check that:

  • The correct products have been delivered
  • The quantity is correct
  • The packaging has not suffered obvious significant damage
  • There are no immediately apparent signs of transit damage

Where possible, visible significant damage to the outer packaging should be brought to the courier's attention when delivery takes place.

12. DAMAGED GOODS

If an order arrives damaged, please contact CBC as soon as reasonably possible.

Where possible, please provide:

  • Order number
  • Description of the damage
  • Photographs of the outer packaging
  • Photographs of the courier label
  • Photographs of the product
  • Photographs of any internal packaging
  • Any other information reasonably required to investigate the delivery

Customers should retain the product and packaging while the matter is being investigated.

CBC may need to lodge a claim or investigation with the courier, supplier or manufacturer.

Nothing in this process limits any statutory rights available to the customer.

13. LOST OR MISSING PARCELS

If tracking information indicates a problem or a parcel has not arrived within the reasonably expected delivery period, please contact CBC.

We will investigate the shipment with the applicable courier provider.

Customers should not be required to resolve a legitimate missing-delivery issue with our courier entirely on their own.

Where a parcel is confirmed lost, the matter will be resolved in accordance with the circumstances and applicable South African law.

14. RISK DURING DELIVERY

CBC will arrange delivery of delivery-eligible products using appropriate third-party courier or freight providers.

The use of a third-party courier does not remove any responsibility that CBC has to the customer under applicable South African consumer law.

Any question regarding loss, damage or risk during delivery will be dealt with according to the circumstances of the shipment and applicable law.

15. STORE COLLECTION

Customers may choose to collect eligible online orders from:

The Cape Brake Co.
209A Main Road
Strand, 7140
Western Cape
South Africa

Products marked “Collection only” must be collected from this address.

There is no delivery charge for store collection.

16. COLLECTION ORDERS

Selecting store collection does not necessarily mean that the product is immediately available at our premises.

Where the product must be ordered from a supplier, CBC will place the order after the required customer payment has been received and confirmed.

We will notify the customer when the order is ready for collection.

Customers should not travel to collect an online order until CBC has confirmed that it is ready.

For orders containing both courier delivery and collection-only items, CBC may provide separate dispatch and collection updates.

17. COLLECTING YOUR ORDER

When collecting an order, customers may be asked to provide:

  • Order confirmation
  • Order number
  • Customer name
  • Proof of identity where reasonably necessary
  • Other information reasonably required to confirm that the order is being released to the correct person

If another person will collect the order on your behalf, please notify CBC beforehand where possible.

18. UNCOLLECTED RETAIL ORDERS

Customers should collect orders within a reasonable period after being notified that they are ready.

If an order remains uncollected for an extended period, CBC will attempt to contact the customer.

Any cancellation, storage, handling or other action relating to persistently uncollected goods will be dealt with in accordance with our Terms of Service and applicable South African law.

19. SUPPLIER & DIRECT-DISPATCH ORDERS

In some circumstances, an order may be dispatched directly from a supplier, distributor or other fulfilment location rather than first being physically delivered to CBC.

Where this occurs, CBC remains the customer's point of contact for the order unless otherwise communicated.

Delivery information necessary to fulfil the order may be provided to the applicable supplier or delivery provider in accordance with our Privacy Policy & POPIA Notice.

Direct dispatch does not apply to products marked “Collection only”; these must be collected from CBC in Strand.

20. PRODUCT AVAILABILITY

Website availability information may depend on supplier or inventory information and can change.

An item appearing on our website does not necessarily mean that it is physically held at our Strand premises.

Where a product becomes unavailable after an order has been placed, CBC will contact the customer and discuss the available options, which may include:

  • Waiting for stock
  • Selecting an appropriate alternative with the customer's agreement
  • Cancelling the affected item or order and providing the appropriate refund

21. DELIVERY OF VEHICLE-SPECIFIC PRODUCTS

Many of our automotive and 4x4 products are vehicle-specific.

Customers are responsible for providing accurate vehicle information when requested.

We strongly recommend confirming compatibility before opening product packaging or attempting installation.

Our Return & Refund Policy contains further information regarding vehicle compatibility, opened packaging and fitted products.

22. RETURNS

Returning a product is separate from the original delivery process.

Please refer to our Return & Refund Policy before returning any product.

For eligible ordinary change-of-mind returns, the customer is responsible for the return courier cost as set out in that policy, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Where CBC supplied an incorrect product, or where the law requires the return to be at CBC's risk or expense, the appropriate return arrangements will be made accordingly.

23. CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL

Delivery and fulfilment may occasionally be affected by circumstances outside CBC's reasonable control.

These may include:

  • Courier network disruption
  • Supplier delays
  • Severe weather
  • Road closures
  • Natural disasters
  • Civil disturbance
  • Labour disruption
  • Infrastructure failures
  • Power outages
  • Import or customs delays
  • Government restrictions
  • Other events that CBC could not reasonably prevent

Where such circumstances materially affect an order, we will communicate with the customer where reasonably possible and deal with the order in accordance with applicable law.

24. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

CBC may update this Shipping & Collection Policy from time to time to reflect changes to:

  • Courier providers
  • Shipping methods
  • Store collection procedures
  • Freight arrangements
  • Our online store
  • Applicable law
  • Our business operations

The latest version will be published on our website.
